Chanukah Casino Night at University of Redlands, Dec. 9, 2011, 5:30 PM

Friday, December 9th from 5:30-8 PM, University of Redlands Hillel is throwing a Chanukah themed party and casino night at the first floor of Hunsaker. Students from all schools are invited to partake in this early Chanukah fun! If you’re around, despite it being the end of finals for many of you, please come join us!

Two Free Hebrew Courses, Beginning Oct. 25th at UCR

Hillel Director Adina Hemley will be teaching a free course on how to read Hebrew from 12-1 PM at the UC Riverside Hillel Lounge. From 1-2 PM, UCR Hillel students Adi Morag and Jackie Zelener will be teaching an introductory course on speaking modern Hebrew.

No charge, and all course materials will be provided through the National Jewish Outreach Program.

Yom Kippur in the Inland Empire

Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement, begins at sundown this Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday. I prepared a list of all the synagogues in the Inland Empire, so please follow the link below for the service of your choice. All services are free for students with a valid Student ID. If you are not a student, please contact the congregation directly to inquire about pricing.

Sukkot in Redlands and Riverside

Both the University of Redlands students as well as UCR students will be building a Sukkah this year (a first for UCR!).

If you are a UCR student come help the UCR students build their sukkah on Monday, Oct. 10th!

If you are a Redlands student, come help them build the their sukkah on Wednesday, Oct. 12th! To help out with either, send me an email, and I’ll direct you to the right people.

Friday, Oct. 14th, there will be a Shabbat dinner in the Sukkah at U of Redlands at 6 PM, as well as a separate Shabbat dinner under the stars at the Sukkah near UCR.  Shabbat at UCR is being generously sponsored by Debbi and Kamran Nickfardjam, parents of Daniel Nickfardjam. All are invited to attend.
Monday, Oct. 17th, there will be a Middle Eastern themed Sukkah party at theHillel@UCR Sukkah. Come join us for a chummus tasting, hookah, Israeli food and music at 5:30 PM.

Rosh Hashanah Games at RCC: Sept. 19, 12:50- 1:50 PM

Meet us in QD 211, 12:50- 1:50 pm to play games related to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. We will also be handing out honey for a “sweet new year!”



Club Rush at Riverside City College: Sept. 20- 22

Hillel will be tabling from 10 am- 2 pm on Tuesday and Thursday during Club Rush on the main Quad at RCC. Wednesday we’ll be tabling from 4-6 pm. Come help us table, or come to hear what Hillel is all about!

This year, Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Years Day, begins at sundown on Sept. 28 and ends sundown on Sept. 30th.
